Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve rounded up the answers to the most common questions about our eco-friendly grazing services. Whether you're curious about what our goats eat, how the process works, or how to book a job — we've got you covered.
What is goat-powered landscaping?
Goat-powered landscaping, also known as “goatscaping,” is an eco-friendly method of clearing brush, invasive plants, poison ivy, and overgrowth using goats instead of machinery or chemicals.
Why use goats instead of traditional landscaping methods?
Goats are natural browsers and can access steep, rocky, or hard-to-reach areas. They’re quiet, low-impact, chemical-free, and leave behind a fertilized landscape ready for replanting or restoration.
What types of vegetation do the goats eat?
Our goats love poison ivy, brambles, kudzu, English ivy, wild rose, honeysuckle, and many invasive weeds. They’re less interested in grass, so they're best for brush clearing, not lawn care.
What does it cost?
Pricing varies based on the size of the area, type of vegetation, and access. We offer free site consultations to provide an accurate quote.
What happens to the vines and woody stems the goats don’t eat?
Goats typically clear 80–95% of the foliage, especially leafy growth and tender shoots. While they may not consume thicker woody stems, their grazing significantly weakens the plants. This means that when regrowth occurs, it’s often much easier to manage or remove manually. We can also return with tools to cut down or chip any remaining debris, or schedule a follow-up graze to continue the clearing process.
Will the plants grow back?
Yes, many invasive plants require multiple grazing sessions or follow-up care to fully eliminate. We can discuss a grazing plan that fits your needs and timeline.
Can the goats come to residential neighborhoods?
Absolutely. As long as the area is accessible and we can set up a secure electric fence, we’re happy to serve both rural and suburban clients.
How do I book a goatscaping session?
